Where's Jodie?! -- Life Update, Fall 2019

Good morning, good evening, or howdy!!! I truly hope your day has been fantastic.

So I’ve got a big whoa moment right here! I did not realize how hard it was to keep up with a blog! While I have so many ideas flowing that I can’t wait to share, this post is just going to be a quick life update! … I mean, my blog is called “Journey with Jodie”.

As my earlier blogs expressed, I’m not serving as a Wisconsin State FFA Officer this year; however, that definitely has not stopped me from being a busy, busy bee!

Just like 99.99% of young adults, here are “BIG THINGS” that occupy my time.

- College

- Work

- Family

- Sleep… of course!

College. Like many know, I’m still attending Fox Valley Technical College for two associate degrees: Agribusiness/Science Technology and Agronomy. The majority of my classes are agronomy based this semester, including Integrated Pest Management & Weed ID, Introduction to Soils, and Precision Ag Overview, and Commercial Vegetable Production. Although, coming from a dairy farm I have to AT LEAST take one dairy class. Consequently, I’m taking Dairy/Livestock Herd Management.

On top of this, I’m involved with two organizations at the college.

- Professional Agriculture Students (PAS)

- Phi Theta Kappa (PTK): Beta Epsilon Omicron Chapter

PAS has two big events coming up this Fall. This includes the local chapter elections next week, and the state officer elections in October. I’m preparing for both elections, in hopes to continue to grow as a leader and agricultural advocate, while becoming career ready!

As for PTK, my big task right now is to help with our Honors in Action project. For this project, the chapter chose to evaluate how social media affects our emotions and views. More specifically, how social media users post only “The Best Moments” and what affect this has on our emotions. After conducting research, a series of questions were developed for interviews. My part of this project is to use these questions to host a casual interview with a staff member at FVTC. I’m very excited to see the final results of this project!

Work. Still dairy farming!! (:

Family. I had a wonderful celebration with my family in August, in honor of the love between my sister and OFFICIALLY brother-in-law. The wedding was hosted at Glacier Hills County Park in Hubertus, WI… As a result, the whole family had a fantastic “mini” vacation away from the family farm. It was a beautiful celebration that will never be forgotten by anyone who attended.

Sleep. Let me paint you a picture:

It’s a Sunday night and you missed the Packer game… Why you ask? You had to work until 8 pm in order to make a living; however, you also have an 8 am class on Monday morning, plus ONLY two more hours of homework to finish tonight…

You also have two hours for dinner, a shower, and relaxing after work. Finally, in the morning, you have an hour to get ready for classes. What does that leave you with for sleep? 7 hours!!!

...that must be one of the lucky nights!

As many college students and alumni know, sleep is very scarce… especially if I choose to write a blog post or watch Netflix! Point being, I’m always tired.

Now you’re thinking, “Hey, Jodie! What’s your trick?”

DRINK TEA.

EAT SNACKS.

Without either of these, I would be slightly more crabby than I already am!

...wait, why are you running away!?! I was just kidding… Come back, I’m not done!!

Actually, I am now. Unfortunately, I don’t have an inspiring twist to end this blog with like my last posts. I’m sorry, but I hope you enjoyed my attempted humor. I can’t wait to keep sharing life updates, inspiring quotes, and emotional twists for you all! Stay posted!! (:
